third parties and subsequently use in your operations? >> we've put in a full array of testing. we're taking samples from every incoming load. we've talked to all of our vendors for them also to do testing. we're doing a composite on these loads weekly and send them in for testing. we're going to do a monthly swabbing of our feed mill. we are currently in the process of completely cleaning and disinfecting the entire mill from top to bottom. and we've done extensive employee training to make sure that the mill is kept tightened up so that there's no open hatches as noted in the 483. >> what steps do you take to ensure that those planned or announced safeguards are implemented? >> we have a daily inspection by the mill manager. then we have an outside supervisor who is going to inspect the facilities once a week and give me a full report. >> do you still have your hog operations? >> we own some hog facilities but we don't own any -- we don't operate hog facilities. we just lease them. >> i see. mr. chairman, i note with some distress my time is up, and i thank you for your courtesy.

was found in a piece of luggage, cbs news correspondent bob orr joins us this morning with the latest. bob, good morning. >> good morning, erica. we can say the holiday weekend is off to a tense started with the latest airport scare in miami. authorities tell us everything is getting back to normal. but for seven hours overnight, four of miami's six terminals were shut down. airport roads in the vicinity were closed, passengers were all ordered evacuated and bomb squad technicians moved in. it started around 9:00 with a security officer spotted something in a checked bag, the luggage screening area, where all the bags are put through explosive detection machines. police went out and located the owner of the bag and took that passenger into custody. now we're told the person is expected to be released and may have been released already. while officials will not say exactly on the record what was found, we're led to believe it was not dangerous. for you, the good news is that this evacuation happened during nonpeak hours overnight. not that many flights were effected. there could be residual

the guns that the suspect had have now been told to us to be starter pistols. starter pistols. the kind of pistols people use when they set off a race or a track meet or something like that. the pipe bombs that he had attached to his body, they're said to be lethal. they searched that suspect's house in wheaton. they said they found four more devices which they removed from the house and safely detonated. little by little, we're learning more and more about how this hostage incident played out. this is what the lobby of the discovery building looked like today after that police takedown of a suspect in the hostage situation. it all came down yesterday around lunch time. 1:00 p.m. police descend on the discovery channel headquarters in silver spring. an armed man takes three people hostage. chief tom manger said he had a feeling it was not going to end well. >> he had a wide range of emotions. he was up, he was down, he would come down a little sometime. we weren't making progress. >> reporter: the suspect, james jay lee, threatened to kill the hostages, threatened to kill hims

hurricane, winds us0 miles-an-hour. it is fewer than 160 miles from cape hatteras, north carolina. the storm is expected to pass near the outer banks within the next few hours packing hurricane force winds that extend 70 miles from the storm's center. nasa has been using photographs for the last four days. you can see how the storm has been growing and rolling closer to the coast and closer to north carolina. the first strong bands of rain have already started to hit outer banks of north carolina. it is hit and miss you know how those bands go. today police went door-to-door to make sure everybody had received evacuation notices because the state's governor warned once the storm hits folks who decided to stay are pretty much on their own. we have extensive team fox coverage throughout the night. rick leventhal on the east end of long island in montauk. monitoring the storm, first jonathan serrie in north carolina. i'm told the winds are come and go? >> reporter: they are indeed. the winds are picking up and continue to pick up at a slow, but stable pace. you said it was hit and miss as far a

glad hurricane earl did not do anymore damage, but i could have used a drop of an at my house and we didn't get anything. >> it skirted off to the east, heading right toward nantucket, skirted north carolina. this has been a real close call. doesn't mean everyone's out of the woods. they did get a labor day break from hurricane earl in the northeast. actually it's been downgraded to a tropical storm as it brushed the coast of massachusetts this morning with heavy rain and high winds. >> and lots of sighs of relief up and down the east coast because this could have been a lot worse. but it if you're thinking of testing the waters at the beach, you'll want to watch out for what earl left behind. we'll have a full update. >> half a world away, a big earthquake in new zealand caused widespread damage in their second largest city which is actually locked down today. >> the prime minister said it was a miracle that no one was killed. we will head live to christ church for a look at the damage there in just a few minutes. >> back in this country, coulky horman would have been going back tol

down shortly. the clouds have been back toward us keeping the temperatures at bay. in the low 80s. go to the radar and zoom in a little bit and you can see how the storm is moving in. it is almost even with cbs hictague here. i put the winds down with the radar. we will go to my night an you can see the storm had big winds. as we went through overnight they had more gusts. norfolk gusts of 28. through now, winds 32 hatteras, 22 norfolk. 28 ocean city. the winds mainly off shore. in fact this buoy here, north winds gusting to 38. that is east of fenwick island. that is where the heart of the heaviest winds are. still in ocean city with winds of 28 miles an hour and big waves it has been an impressive morning. scott, how's it going out there now? >> the story so far has been the surf. the winds have been relatively manageable, not much more than 2 -- 20 to 25 miles an hour. the beef is close -- the beach is closed because of the threat of rip currents. i'm standing in water here. this is unusual in ocean city. you don't see this but a few times a year an the water is almost up to the se

started and told us we in recession before anybody else called it, with me last spring and summer when you said the recession is over. do you agree with, first of all, this? >> in april '09 we said the recession would end in the summer of '09. so we do agree with this. and we have been saying it was june or july. i totally accept the june date. why it's important is because the national bureau of economic research is an objective, using an objective methodology. we all have our feeling, we'll get to in a second, but they're use an objective scorecard for when the economy is expanding, con tragting in a recovery or recession, and it ended in june of '09. let's be clear what that means. all it means is that the economy made it into the recovery room. okay? and started a process of healing. now, anyone who a has been in that situation and made it into a recovery room knows that it still really, really, really hurts when you're in the recovery room, and we're still there. be very, very clear. that's a big part of the reason wyman on the street right now is going to say, who are these guys sayi
